KS3 & GCSE

Whether you’re looking for academic support or want outstanding performance. We have multiple classes for KS3 and GCSE to cater for all abilities.

KS3

Moving up to secondary school marks the start of KS3 for children. KS3 covers years 7, 8 and 9: the first three years of secondary school. KS3 is a fundamental stage in a child’s development as it allows them to build upon the foundations in KS2 (years 3-6) whilst aiming towards their GCSEs with confidence.

Secondary school pupils are taught 12 subjects at KS3. At The Lighthouse Education, we focus on the three core subjects: English, Maths and Science.

The KS3 syllabus at the start of Secondary School prepares the foundations for GCSEs. The English curriculum becomes much more detailed, involving Shakespeare as well as poetry and writing for a variety of audiences. In Mathematics algebra is introduced, as well as adding to the concepts of numbers, shape and data handling. Whether you’re looking for academic support to deal with the jump in level from KS2 to KS3 or are currently exceeding targets and would like to progress towards outstanding performance. we have multiple classes for KS3 to cater for all abilities.

GCSE

Secondary school pupils in years 10 and 11 work towards their GCSE exams at the end of year 11. GCSEs are crucial in order to gain employment and access to further education. We provide tuition for the three core subjects: English, Maths and Science.

In each subject, our syllabus perfectly prepares your child and our scheme of work reflects the essential knowledge needed as they progress.

What differentiates our classes from the education they receive in school? Exam revision can be notoriously difficult at the GCSE level. It’s the first-time pupils are dealing with national exams, in multiple subjects, spread over just a few short weeks. At The Lighthouse Education, we aim to provide additional support, focusing on revision and exam technique, with a level of detail and emphasis far exceeding that which schools can provide. We limit the number of pupils per class, maintaining a low teacher/pupil ratio to help deliver this support. Additionally, we offer multiple groups at the GCSE level, making sure each pupil is receiving support in an environment tailored to their level and requirements.

For all our secondary programmes, students are assessed regularly; parents receive progress reports and have an opportunity to receive additional feedback if required.
